ResourceKraft wins Cork Regional Final of Bank of Ireland's Bright Idea's Challenge Competition

28 September, 2009

ResourceKraft a leading supplier of sophisticated energy cost control systems was recently chosen as the winner of the Cork regional final of Bank of Ireland’s Bright Idea’s Challenge held in the Maryborough House Hotel. Established in 2007 and operating in the Rubicon Centre in Cork Institute of Techology, ResourceKraft develops innovative technology-driven products that assist organisations of all kinds, to measure and reduce their energy usage and carbon emissions, to assist with utility bill management and assists in enforcing corporate policies in this area.

The ‘Bright Ideas Challenge’ sponsored by Bank of Ireland, and held in association with AxisBIC aims to encourage and support both innovation and enterprise in business start-ups, SMEs, and individuals in the early launch stages of their business development. ResourceKraft, who defeated four other finalists in the competition, received a cash prize of €5,000 from the Bank, along with a mentoring and training package from AxisBIC valued at €5,000. They will also go forward to the national final of the Bright Ideas Challenge in early 2010 with the opportunity to win another attractive investment package.

The four finalists presented to a panel of judges and a public audience led by Bobby Kerr, entrepreneur and Dragon on Bank of Ireland’s sponsored Dragons’ Den. Other finalists included; Techne Logic, Argolon Solutions, Perch and Tender Flow.

The Final formed part of the Bank’s Business Advice Show where Bobby Kerr addressed the event giving some valuable insights and advice on how to be successful in creating and developing your own business. The event also included a ‘Business Expo’ which featured over 45 business exhibitors, from the Cork region, including a number of innovative B2B (Business to Business) exhibitors and a number of key state agencies who provide key support to businesses.
Damian, Young, Head of Small Business Segment, Bank of Ireland said: “All finalists of the Bright Idea’s Challenge competition offered unique propositions. ResourceKraft was chosen as it has developed a system that assists companies in reducing their energy costs quickly and in the reduction of consumption and carbon emissions in the long term. This service benefits both the customer and the environment. Given the company is only two years in operation it has great potential to grow and expand into different markets”.

The next Business Advice Show will be held in Waterford on 14 October and will host the Waterford finalists of the Bright Idea’s Challenge. Space at the event is limited so those wishing to attend need to contact Jen Ryan, on 01 6043761 or jen.ryan@boimail.com to book their place.
