Cork City Council

Cork City Council is a public service organisation that operates within a local democratic mandate. It is responsible for providing a diverse range of services for the citizens of our city which might impact directly or indirectly on their daily lives. Cork City Council is one of the largest employers in Cork City with over 1,300 staff.

The main services we provide are:
Environmental - Provision of water, sewage and drainage services. Operation and maintenance of landfill sites, street cleaning, litter control and civic amenity sites.
Housing and Community Services - Direct provision of Housing stock to those in need, accommodation for travellers and homeless persons. Facilitation of alternative provision and options i.e. Shared Ownership and Affordable Housing.
Planning and Development - This directorate deals with all planning matters in the city including planning policy and urban renewal.
Recreation, Amenity and Emergency Services - Provision and maintenance of all public parks, green spaces, playing pitches, libraries and museums. It is also responsible for the fire service, civil defence,emergency planning, building control and cemeteries.
Roads and Transportation - As the statutory road authority for Cork City, it is responsible for developing and managing parking, the design and construction of new schemes and maintenance of the road network.

Cork County Council

As the local authority for County Cork, the largest County in the Republic of Ireland, Cork County Council is the primary organisation charged with the development of the region and plays a vital role in the economic and social life of the county. Established by statute, Cork County Council’s corporate purpose is to enhance the physical, social, cultural and economic environment of the county in a sustainable and socially inclusive manner so as to improve the quality of life of its citizens.

This role is progressed through the delivery of a wide range of services across the following main areas of activity:
• Physical Planning and Economic Development
• Environmental Services
• Water Services
• Housing
• Infrastructural Planning and Development
• Emergency Services
• Community, Enterprise and Cultural Services

Cork County Council is committed to the continued strategic planning, development and marketing, of the county to attract investment and drive further growth in the region. This includes a positive and proactive approach to development proposals at the strategic level as well as targeted initiatives such as the development of enterprise space, and grant aid and loan guarantees to small scale or start up enterprises.


 

Enterprise Ireland

Enterprise Ireland is the government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets. We work in partnership with Irish enterprises to help them start, grow, innovate and win export sales on global markets. In this way, we support sustainable economic growth, regional development and secure employment. Enterprise Ireland's priority is the achievement of export sales growth from Irish-owned companies. Export sales growth leads to an increase in demand for Irish goods and services, and increases the flow of income into the Irish economy. This is fundamental to job creation and maintenance in Ireland.
Enterprise Ireland works with entrepreneurs and business people across the full business development spectrum - from early-stage entrepreneurs, to established business owners and Irish multinational companies. Our clients include:
• High Potential Start Up’s with the capability to start a business and sell in export markets.
• Established manufacturing and internationally traded businesses that are SME’s
• Large companies (employing more than 250).
• Irish-based food and natural resource companies, that are overseas-owned or controlled.
Our range of services is extensive, from funding, to making introductions in key international markets. Enterprise Ireland is a national and global organisation. We have a national network of nine regional offices throughout Ireland and over 30 international offices providing access to more than 60 countries worldwide.
