Serial Entrepreneurs, International Investors and High Growth Start-ups Going International in October


AxisBIC have announced the line-up for the 2nd Going International Conference taking place on Thursday October 11th. Participants include Harvard Business Angels, Cambridge Angels, Serial Entrepreneurs, Investors and VCs from the Ireland’s rapidly growing private equity marketplace.

The Going International Conference 2012 – Building a High Growth Company with Smart Investment is taking place on Thursday October 11th at the Grain Store, Ballymaloe House, Shanagarry, Co. Cork.

In October 2011, the 1st Going International Conference welcomed over 130 delegates who listened and debated with some outstanding International Entrepreneurs. Following their participation in last year’s event seven start-ups received Enterprise Ireland investment funding; three secured private equity investment; one was invited to present to 130 investors at London Business School and one other was chosen to participate in the Cork County/Cook County trade mission to Chicago.

The three international confirmed speakers include; Phil O’Donovan, who is co-founder of CSR plc. Europe’s largest fabless semiconductor company. Phil grew CSR from a start-up in 1999 into a highly successful publicly listed company with $700m in revenue. His current focus is technology-intensive companies in both England and Ireland and he currently holds several non-executive directorships. Phil is an Entrepreneur in Residence at Cambridge University and Chairman at Twelve Winds as well as an Angel Investor.

Gilles Bouchard, Vice President of Harvard Business Angels France commented that “In all my years of investing trust has been the key component. Looking forward to this year’s Going International Conference and inspiring hearts and minds”. Gilles has extensive experience in Internet Media Telecoms after graduating from Harvard Business School. He is a serial entrepreneur with a successful investment track record.

Jack Lang is a serial entrepreneur and business angel with high-tech and internet companies based in Cambridge. He is an Entrepreneur in Residence, Fellow and affiliated lecturer at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. Recent ventures include, www.raspberrypi.org, an ultra-low cost computer for children, Moviestorm which makes 3d Animation, and co-Founder of Artimi, (now vbeam) making next generation wireless chips.

Other participants include Dr Johnny Walker, founder of Global Diagnostics; Bill Liao, Serial Entrepreneur, Philanthropist & European Partner with SOS Ventures and an update from the Coder Dojo ‘Pioneers’ team.

This event is supported by Media Partner, Irish Examiner; and Founding Partners Cork City Council, Cork County Council and Ronan Daly Jermyn.
