Sept 25th - Recognising high-achieving Women in Business

The Global Board Ready Women (GBRW) searchable database has been developed in response to global corporate governance need for more gender diversity on publicly quoted company boards in Europe. It also responds to the European Commission’s proposed legislation to set a minimum objective of 40% by 2020 for members of the under-represented sex for non-executive members of the boards of publicly listed companies in Europe.  Europe’s leading business schools have been working with the European Commission and Senior Executive Women to produce a growing list of now more than 8000 Board Ready Women.

Candace Johnson is one of the driving forces behind this initiative and is extraordinary by every possible standard. She is an entrepreneur, a role model for women, a trailblazer in telecommunications, an innovator in the knowledge economy, a corporate leader and a champion of women. She regularly makes the list of the most powerful women in Europe and beyond. Candace’s commitment in support of women started a few decades ago, when in her early 30s she found herself being one of the youngest women ever to be on the board of a multi-million dollar corporation… that she co-created! Being the only woman on many of the boards she was invited to be part of, she decided to dedicate herself to the promotion, support and mentoring of women to ultimately fill that gap.

The extensive database sits on the global business platform, LinkedIn, and allows corporations and executive search companies to search a number of notable business women. It is managed by the Financial Times Non Executive Directors’ (NED) Club.  Women in the group can ensure that their profiles and experience are kept up to date while companies and recruiters can easily search and identify those candidates whose experience most closely match their requirements and contact them directly. Business Schools Members of the initiative include: Cambridge Judge Business School, EDHEC Business School, INSEAD, ESSEC, London Business School, Oxford, SKEMA, University of Mumbai.

Candace Johnson will be delivering the keynote address on Using Smart Investment to create Global Opportunities at the AxisBIC Going International Conference on October 16 in Fota Island Resort. Click HERE for more information on Candace Johnson
