Cork Entrants for David Manley Award Selected

03 October, 2007

CORKBIC recently encouraged businesses, in existence at least 1 year but less than 3 years, to complete an application for the Business section of the David Manley Award.

A short list of 2 entries from clothing and agricultural sectors, were selected by the CORKBIC to go forward to compete for the award. The first one, PuddleDucks, began trading in March 2005 and is the only Irish website specialising in Outdoor Clothes for Children. The second is Auld Sod Export Company Ltd and has patented a method of procuring and treating Irish soil which will satisfy the US Dept of Agriculture and customs requirements for importation into the US.

This is the fourth year of the David Manley Award which rewards the enterprising spirit.  The Award was established by a group of David Manley's friends to honour his contribution to, encouragement and mentoring of SMEs during his short life time. There is a prize package of €80,000 on offer consisting of €10,000 in cash and €70,000 in consultancy and mentoring services.

Final review and category winners will be decided by the end of October, with a presentation of the award on November 7th in Dublin Castle.
