300 business leaders attend National Innovation Forum

11 September, 2008

Over 300 business leaders are attending the 2008 National Innovation Forum in Croke Park which is being hosted by Enterprise Ireland.

They are being encouraged to be innovative during challenging economic times.

The Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise Mary Coughlan who opened the conference told them the Government was committed to an unprecedented level of investment in support of innovation in all its forms.

Minister Coughlan has said our recent economic success is rooted in innovation but we can not afford to become complacent in any way.

'Innovation is one of our growth opportunities and we have invested considerably in research and development.

'Easier access for smaller companies to research and development is very important and one of the key issues which has been raised,' she said.
